Nassau Community College High School Pre-Calculus Partnership Program http://www.matcmp.sunynassau.edu/~sherd/Applets/Precalc/games.htm This is the first year for Nassau College Pre-Calculus at Glen Cove High School. It is the second year that the Pre-Calculus course has been redesigned and updated. I am teaching both sections of the Nassau Community College Pre-Calculus course. The NCC Course and Honors course follow mainly the same outline, but at a different pace and focus. The NCC course has college credit potential. Students will take a quarterly exam at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters that count as 10% and the 35% final exam in mid May at Nassau Community College. The last 35% will come from the high school teacher (me!). Students will be able to take NCC Calculus or AP Calculus level courses as well as college level courses. The NCC Calculus is my recommendation since many students have trouble with one test (like the AP) and since I feel it better prepares students for college. There are no exemptions from the final exam. The course has a 4 part focus. Math as tables, words, equations and graphs. (This is also the stress of the new NY State math 4, 8, A and B exams as well.)
